Day 0 · one call, and it’s ours to carry

Boynton Beach · in our own plant since 2006

Where does a Boynton Beach rug actually get washed?

Your rug leaves the Florida room of a Hunters Run villa or an Intracoastal condo, gets washed the proper way in our plant, and comes home looking the way the weaver meant it to. Pickup and return at no charge across Palm Beach County — you never fold a heavy rug into the back seat.

Bathed flat. Dried under watch. Home in about a week.

Out your door and back through it

What actually happens to your rug back at the plant?

Eight stops, in the order they happen. Nothing on this ladder is skipped, and nothing is handed to anyone outside our building.

Day 1 · at your door

We lift it, wrap it, drive it

We arrive in the window you picked, roll the rug, wrap it for the ride and carry it out ourselves — down a Leisureville hallway or into a service elevator on the Intracoastal, either way it isn’t your lift.

Day 1 · on the intake floor

Tape, pH strip, dye blot

First we measure it, log the wear, the stains and anything that needs mending, then read its pH and test the dyes. The full price is fixed before we move on.

The number, and how we reach it

Why no price until we’ve seen the rug?

Two rugs of identical size can call for entirely different work, and that’s the heart of it.

A sturdy machine-made 8×10 is a simple wash. Give that same footprint to a hand-knotted rug with shaky dyes, years of trapped salt and grit, and a pet accident soaked into one corner, and you have a completely different job.

The price follows the rug: its measured size, the fiber and construction, how stable the dyes are, how deep the soil runs, any pet contamination, and whether the fringe or edges want repair.

That’s why the inspection comes first and the quote comes second — one number, before any work.

You pay nothing for the pre-inspection, and whatever we quote at pickup is what it costs at delivery. No coupons, no telephone estimates, no figure creeping upward at the end.

Day 2 · before any water

Dust

Dry grit collects by the pound under the pile, and a coastal town like Boynton adds its share of beach sand and salt. All of it is beaten and vacuumed out first.

Days 2–3 · in the pit

Wash

Then a full immersion wash in a natural pH shampoo chosen for the fiber and dyes — kind to fragile wool and silk, firm on soil worked deep into the weave.

Days 3–5 · in the managed room

Dried on the poles, fast

The rug moves into our climate-controlled drying room. Quick, uniform drying is what keeps one color from wandering into another in Florida’s damp air.

Driven home

Then it’s driven home. Pickup and delivery is on us, anywhere in Palm Beach County.

Most rugs are back on the floor inside a week

Every fiber, every knot count

Rugs we wash for Boynton Beach homes

Each fiber and dye asks for its own handling, and that is precisely why we test before we begin. Every rug below moves through the same in-plant routine: measured, checked for pH and colorfastness, dusted deep, washed, then dried under control.

Persians and Tabriz Knots

The vegetable dyes in older Persians don’t always stay put. We towel-test each one for colorfastness and ease off the method for any piece that needs it.

Our dye test, explained →
Shag and Deep Flokati

On a shag, dusting is the make-or-break step — sand and grit settle right down at the roots of that long pile and must be drawn out before any water goes in.

Why dusting comes first →
Silk and Rayon Weaves

Delicate silks are handled with softer tools and a careful touch through the wash, then dried in the same controlled way so their luster and color hold.

How delicates are handled →
Orientals, Bathed Whole

A knotted Oriental is a textile in its own right, nothing like fixed carpet. It has earned a proper immersion in the plant — not a heated wand pulled across it out on the patio.

See the wash week →
Kilim, Soumak, Navajo

With no pile to hide behind, flatweaves and Navajo rugs get their colors tested first, then a quick wash and fast dry so nothing has a chance to run.

Stage by stage →
Wool Pile, Kept Soft

Wool is a protein, and the strong alkaline products meant for carpet leave it dry and lifeless. Our shampoo stays inside the gentle pH band wool can live with.

Where wool gets its bath →
Custom Cuts and Runners

Custom-cut and one-off rugs are cleaned in keeping with how they were made — and once yours is back and dry, we can trim a pad to fit it exactly.

Send us the details →
Antiques and Estate Rugs

With an antique, the work leans more toward preservation than a routine clean. If a full wash would set it back rather than help, we’ll tell you up front.

Where we stand

What the first call is like

The look-over happens first

We measure, inspect and run the pH and dye tests before anything else, and the exact price lands in your hands before work starts.

Washed inside our own plant

Start to finish, your rug is handled inside our building — nothing subcontracted, nothing trucked off to another county.

Delivery on your schedule

Pickup and delivery cost nothing across Palm Beach County. We ring you once it’s ready and pick a window that works for you.

A straight answer, even when it loses us the work

If a wash would do your rug no favours, or it doesn’t need the plant at all, you hear that at the inspection instead of on the invoice.

A timeline you can trust. A week is typical. Should repairs stretch that out, you’ll know at the inspection rather than the day it’s delivered.

A wash floor, not a van

Is letting the carpet crew do the rug really a shortcut?

It comes up in nearly every Boynton Beach home we visit. The tile is already booked for a steam cleaning, and the good rug anchoring the great room feels like it could go on the same ticket.

But wall-to-wall carpet and a hand-knotted rug are built to be treated in opposite ways. Carpet is stretched and glued down to be scrubbed where it lies. A fine rug is a free-standing textile — wool or silk pile knotted onto a cotton foundation, colored with dyes that were never meant to sit under a hot extraction wand.

Clean a good rug in place and three things go wrong quietly: sandy grit stays buried in the foundation, the dyes can creep, and the rug dries slowly against your floor. This close to the ocean, with salt air and summer humidity in the mix, that slow drying is exactly how browning and a musty smell take hold.

A rug that dresses a whole room deserves a real bath, not a quick pass with a wand.

Which is why we take the older, patient route inside our own plant: the rug is measured, tested, beaten free of dust, washed with a natural pH shampoo, then dried in a controlled room. Whether it is wool, silk, antique, Navajo or shag, you can follow the whole process step by step.

And when a rug honestly doesn’t need the plant — a newer synthetic that’s safe to freshen at home — we’ll say so and save you the trouble.

Our own needles, our own bench

Repairs taken care of in the same building

Anything we notice at inspection comes with a plain recommendation — mend it, live with it, or, when a fix would run past what the rug is worth, leave it be. All repair work is done by our own hands here, never sent away. Have a look at the repair work →

Boynton Beach’s rug plant since 2006

A family shop — no franchise, no call center.

Pick up the phone and you get the same people who will have their hands on your rug from start to finish — not a dispatcher and not a subcontractor two counties away.

Most of what we do comes from Boynton Beach families we’ve cared for over the years, and the neighbors those families send our way.

Questions from our pickup round

What Boynton Beach rug owners ask us

Do you collect the rug from my home, or does it have to come to you?

We come to you — there is nothing to drop off. Our free pickup and delivery runs throughout Boynton Beach, from Hunters Run and Aberdeen to the Intracoastal condos and Leisureville, plus nearby Delray Beach, Lantana and Lake Worth Beach. We collect the rug at your door, wrap it for the drive, and return it once the work is finished.

Can't the carpet cleaners just do the rug where it lies?

A hand-knotted rug is a loose textile, not carpet tacked to the floor. Steamed in place under a hot wand, the grit stays locked in the foundation, the dyes can bleed, and it dries slowly on your terrazzo. In our coastal salt air and humidity, that slow drying is exactly how browning and a musty edge begin.

How can you tell my rug will hold up to a wash?

We test before we wash. Every rug gets a pre-inspection with a pH reading and a dye-stability check in a hidden corner, because some older vegetable-dyed rugs will run the moment water meets them the wrong way. If yours is a bleed risk we change the method — and we show you what we found before a drop of water touches it.

What will it cost to clean my rug in Boynton Beach?

We inspect first, then price — never the other way around. Measured size, fiber, construction, dye stability, how much soil is buried in the pile, any pet contamination and repairs all change what a rug needs, so a phone figure would only be a guess. When we collect the rug we examine it and set the exact price before any cleaning starts.

Does living this near the coast actually wear a rug down?

It adds up over the years. Boynton’s coastal air carries fine salt and moisture that settle into the pile, while low afternoon sun through big east-facing windows slowly fades exposed edges. A proper wash flushes the salt and grit out of the foundation, and rotating the rug evens the fading — small habits that add years to a good piece.

Alongside cleaning, can you mend fringe, holes and moth damage?

Yes, and every repair is done by hand at our own shop, never shipped out. That runs from fringe repair and replacement through side and edge overcasting, hole reweaving, moth damage, dry rot, resizing and complete restoration. If a repair would cost more than the rug is worth, we tell you plainly instead of selling you the work. More on repairs.

How long before my rug comes back?

About a week is the norm for most rugs. The wash is followed by controlled speed-drying in a temperature and humidity managed room, which is what keeps the colors from migrating in our climate — so we never rush it. Anything that also needs hand repair runs a bit longer, and you’ll have an honest timeline from the inspection.
